  • I would forget about it unless some actual permanent bodily harm was done to me. Of course the Wicked Witch of the West would have a law suit I would imagine.
  • That's a little harsh, don't you think? :) Accidents happen. It would have to be much more grave than that for me to consider it.
  • Something so small as spilling water..certainly not. If the waiter/waitress were extremely rude, there would be a very small tip, if any, and I would mention it to the Manager on my way out. Unless someone in the restaurant's employ lunged toward me with a weapon intending to do bodily harm, I can see no reason to sue.
  • I hate it when that happens. I feel so bad for the person because it must be really embarassing. I would want to make it any worse for them than it already is.
  • No I wouldn't sue and to be honest I'm getting fed up of this culture that sue's anyone for anything at the drop of a hat. An apology would suffice for me.
  • It would depend on the damage caused. Normally there should not be a great dammage from spilling water, but there could be exceptions (for instance *boiling" water). If the damage cause was not very important and the waitress gave good excuses and propose some small compensation such as a free dessert, I would be satisfied. (In the case of a glass of water; for a few drops I would forget it) By a greater bodily or material damage, I would expect some greater compensation. If there were some true accident, I would ask some people if they want to be witnesses and involve the insurance company. If the insurance company is doing her job right, there should be no need of a lawyer. I would not have any interest to make profit out of this. I would also have a different reaction if this happens to me in a small restaurant as I am travelling in a poor country.
  • I would try to let the girl know it is perectly normal to spill a little water. I am sure she would be humiliated by doing it, I'd just laugh and make a joke to make her feel better. then it would be forgotten.
  • It depends on the waitress attitude. If he or she looks apologetic, it will be OK, I will forget about it. If that's not the case, I will walk out and will never visit that place again.
  • I wouldn't SUE unless they caused me some kind of serious harm. that being said, I went to Waffle House the other night with some friends and the COOK told us we shouldn't eat there. He then went on to say (with a sick looking smile on his face) that if we DID stay, he'd fix us something "real niiiiice". We hauled ass out of there as fast as we could! I did send the company an email to let them know what had happened, but I don't expect anything to come of it. I feel bad for anyone who lets that guy cook their food. It'll turn out "real niiiice"!
  • Ohh is the water boiling ?
  • I'd forget about it! Chances are she'll give you a discount or something...if not that's ok! Because she probably didn't hurt me or my outfit!
  • Knowing how many times I have done unexpected things, I could never create a bigger problem for the person who did not do anything intentionally. They are humiliated enough, and I would try to help them calm down and clean up.
  • For spilling water? No. That's ridiculous. What's the most damage to clothing water could do? Is it worth a lawsuit? If I needed to be compensated, I have the right to be made whole. For instance, if the water stained my suede jacket, I would be entitled to the fair depreciated value of the jacket. Is that worth a girl losing her job? Life happens. Accidents happen. Move on.
  • I never believed much in suing someone unless I knew for a fact they meant to cause damage. Part of life is mishaps and mistakes. I would guess the waitress would have felt very bad and worried to begin with without me making an issue out of something that could happen and has with anyone. Heck i may even give her a bigger tip for showing me some attention. (depending on my mood). No I would not try to sue.
  • No, the most I'd do is try to get a free meal out of it. Unless it'd come out of the waitress's pay.
