Here's a thought: How about every single political figure in the world give 15 or 20% of their outrageous salaries to the poor countries... try to even things out a little... Cut their expense accounts down so that if they think a 300,00$ vacation is a necessity, well tax them too... I know I'm dreaming but I would like to see the gap between the rich and the poor diminish

  • Do you want controversial questions or ones that provoke deep thought? Those are usually two different things! The most controversial topics are usually not that deep- sex, politics, religion, and the various ways they overlap. People can have long drawn-out controversial conversations about Paris Hilton. Deep questions often sit unanswered. Descartes said "I think therefore I am" as a proof for his own existence. Extrapolating from that, can any individual prove that a second individual exists? How can one prove to themselves that another person exists beyond their imagination?

  • I am not sure the same question can spark both debate and deep thought. Deep thought presupposes open minds. Debate often takes place between people trying to prove their own prejudiced ideas. - Not always, just often. I would like to hear a deeply thought out debate between people who are searching for truth about the War in Iraq and are not flinging epithets and characterizations each other wrapped in tired old slogans and buzz words.

  • How did matter and energy first begin? Has it always been there? If matter and energy have always been forever and always doesnt that go against formal logic stating that everything must have a start? Did matter and energy self create? If so does that not go agaist the law of conservation stating that energy and matter cannot be created nor destroyed. Could the universe and the cosmos all be an illusion of the human mind? If so that would also go against formal logic. If the worlds are an illusion humans would be living a falacy. No human lives like that. If you walk in the street and see a truck coming, beiliving that it is all an illusion will not make the truck hit you? Where did it all come from? HOw did it begin, every theory has its arguments. It hurts my head thinking of it. In my personal opinion the theory that sounds most likey to me is that matter has and always will be present.
