  • Has it been ringed? :)
  • "How many miles are on it?"
  • Consider these important questions... 1. Any damages, crashes on the car. 2. Life and mileage 3. Title and license of the vechile These questions can also be considered when buying a home.(Except for the mileage)
  • I would insist on seeing the maintenance records, including original receipts. Then I would call at least one of the garages that provided maintenance to that vehicle to ascertain if the wool was being pulled over my eyes. I would also insist on taking the vehicle to my mechanic, or, if I am sufficiently skilled in that make and model, do it myself. You would need to go to a mechanic to see if the odometer has been rolled back... that is a huge problem. I also would run the VIN number with various agencies like Carfax.com to see if there are any accidents registered to that vehicle. Carfax will tell you if there have been any accidents or more. I believe you have to pay for this but it would be worth it.
  • Personally, I trust my own inspection of the vehicle more than I trust the person selling it. I have had many cars lacking maintenance records and they have invariably been more reliable and trouble-free than the ones that had a detailed history (including receipts). The car itself will speak volumes, but you have to learn to read them. You must learn to tell the difference between poor housekeeping and outright neglect; the differences are subtle. One other trick is to check the radio presets. It will give you insight into the personality of the seller and from that you can make inferences about how it was likely driven. Little old ladies driving to church on Sundays do NOT usually listen to hip-hop. If you have to resort to asking the seller anything beyond, "Is there anything I need to know about this car?", then you've lost. Either they disclose what they know and can't help you any further or they are BSing you and you won't get a straight answer anyways.
  • was it ever used in a bank heist getaway?
