  • To get in usually 18. 21 to drink. But a lot of places dont care or card. Atleast in my experience.
  • It depends on the establishment and how closely they adhere to the local laws, as well as what the local laws actually say. Around here, you have to be 21 to even be IN the bar after 9 pm - so most establishments have a doorman to check identification before you're allowed inside. If an establishment is caught in violation of that law, they can have their liquor license suspended or revoked, in addition to having to pay a hefty fine.

  • You have to be 21 to get into the bar. They will card you, and if you are not 21 you can't even come in. The whole point is so that the bartender can serve whoever is in the bar - and not card everyone for every drink. Can't drink: can't come in.
  • They card here! I was carded at 38! But that's the last time I was in a bar.
  • Every state has different laws. You have to be 21 to consume alcohol in all states. However, some states allow all ages in if with a parent. Others require that you're 21 just to get in.
