YHWH is the name that God revealed Himself as in the Old testament, to Moses. It meant "I am who I am" or "Eternal One". It was probably pronounced Yahweh. In fact, the Jewish people, when they read the Old Testament, did not even say it. Instead, the scribes inserted above the word the vowels of the word "Adonai", meaning Lord, to cue the reader to say 'adonai' instead of YHWH. Latin copyists mistook these vowles as indicating that they were the vowels of the word YHWH, so combined them. In Medieval Latin, the sound "y" was represented by a "J" and "w" by "v". In Latin translations, the word was written "Jahoveh", which was then anglicised to Jehovah. However, the word Jehovah is not the original way to pronounce the name that God gave. Technical, but that's the truth. Now, in the New Testament, the only words that are used for God are the words "Theos" (God) and "Kyrios" (Lord), never the YHWH. So if you see the word Jehovah in a translation such as the New World Translation, it should not be there, as it is not there in the original Greek. It has been inserted by the "translators" of the NWT to deceive readers into thinking that it was there in the original Greek. Once again, I have to repeat. It is not found in the original Greek of the New Testament. How do we call upon the name of the Lord then? We can use the words that the New Testament itself uses: God and Lord. Or, even more specifically, if we look at verses such as: Matthew 28:18 "baptising in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (one name, three persons) 0r Acts 4: 12 There is no other name (but Jesus) given among men by which we must be saved. or Romans 10:9 "If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

Peter said in addressing a crowd, “And everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.’” (Acts 2:17-21) The words Peter quoted are found at Joel 2:28-32. Joel 2:30-32 says “And I will give portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun itself will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and fear-inspiring day of Jehovah. And it must occur that everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will get away safe. NWT Or as it says in the King James version: “And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call4 on the name of the LORD shall be delivered:11 for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said,1 and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.” or as the American Standard version says: “32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Jehovah shall be delivered; for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be those that escape, as Jehovah hath said, and among the remnant those whom Jehovah doth call. Yes, you had better know what God’s name is at the end. You should not be like one of those claiming to serve Christ, like so many of Christendom’s overpaid clergy, while hiding or trying to obscure God’s name. The Bible is very clear on this. If your Bible does not use God’s name, then you had better do your homework and go get yourself a real Bible.

The only name you need to call on to be saved is 911.

"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved."

JEHOVAH is God's name. Jesus (meaning "Savior" or "JEHOVAH saves") is name of the Son of God, who we find in John 1:1-14 and I Timothy 3:16 is also God manifest in the flesh (God Incarnate). Personally, I believe that we are to call upon the name of Jesus Christ because the Scriptures teach us that His name is above every name. The Scriptures also teach us that Jesus Christ is JEHOVAH God, So who else should we call upon? I hope that this is helpful. -In the service of the Master. Thank you and God bless you!

Jehovah is a bad translation. It has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with semantics. The name should be Yahweh, according to language experts.

What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet. Muslims call him Allah, whose name be praised; most Christians and Jews call him God.

I have been doing a lot of research on this topic and I believe that a lot of you should do so too, because being a Christain and a Bible reader I have been lead to find out the true name of God because their are several acounts in the bible where even Jesus calls on his father, so how could he possibly call on himself? God is our creator and he is eternal, meaning that he has no beginning and no ending. He's the Alpha and the Omega. However, Jesus who is our savior and shed his blood for our life, had a beginning and an ending? And he walked the earth as a flesh and as a man, but God the almighty has never been revealed. So can we read our Bibles and get the true understanding. Stop being in the dark and just listening to your pastors. Ask questions and seek the right answers. Because remember Jesus said keep on seeking, keep on asking and these things will be given to you.

Millions of men call to him by many a different name. One Father. One God all the same.

I happen to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I think some of the people that left some comments could be some also. We're not saying that Jehovah is the name that replaces Jesus in fact he is his son. It's just that alot of the people that translated of the Bible will put Jesus sometimes because they believe in the Trinity (that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are equal) but that's not the case. Jehovah created Jesus he was his first creation ever so he considers him as his son, after Jesus was resurrected (after he was persecutted on the torture stake) he said he will send a "helper" which is the Holy Spirit of Jehovah God of spiritual understanding which opens a door for us to understand his word The Bible. There's no where in the Bible where it says that all three are equal. God is the supreme ruler and he came before everything and like the loving God he is he created Jesus to sacrifice his life for us the Holy Spirit to guide us to draw closer to him. Back to the main point of what is God's name though it is YHWH for letters that have no vowels and pronounced "Yahweh". In the english bible it's translated Jehovah. Have some common sense though all of our own names can even be translated into different languages pronounced different and even spelled different. So the translation for english is Jehovah. Here are other translations in different languages of Yahweh. Jehova Yehova Yehowa Yahowa Yehovah Iehovah Jehovovi Јеховини Xehová Jehovini Jehovovi Jehovas Jehovo Jehová Jehoova Jehobaren Jehovan Jéhovah Jeova Jehovini Jehóva Geova Jehovos Ihowa Јеховини Jehova Jehowy Giê-hô-va Iâ-hô-hoa Jeová But, es the original way of saying his name is Yahweh and if you feel more comfortable of calling him by pronouncing it like that than there's is absolutly no problem with that because that IS his name. You can get the correct and most accurate translation of the Bible which has God's name in on the Kingdom Halls of Jehovah's Witnesses for free. It's called the New World Translation and you can also get a free Bible study from any of the fellow Witnesses. Also if you are still iffy about God's name you can check even in encyclopedia's at a library even wikipedia talks about it pretty accurately. I hope I helped! :)
