To be open-minded, educated, and quick-witted.

Knowing yourself.

Smart is based on eye of the beholder. I think the better word to use when someone is good at a skill is knowledgeable on a subject.

That you have the ability to think critically. IMHO too many people think that knowing many facts about a subject makes you smart but it doesn't, it just means you have a good memory.
