  • That could be said, but also one has to take into account the statistical likelyhood that these people may have simply happened to encounter many answers that even a reasonable and not especially critical person would have downrated. A person's ratings percentage reflects not only their basis for downrating, but also the answers/questions that they downrated. A statistic out of context still has some meaning, but keep in mind that a person's ratings % only shows you half of the picture.
  • I think that there are probably a variety of reasons that this happens. Maybe they are disagreeable and are that way in person. Perhaps they are too agreeable in person and down rate here to work out the frustration of having to be yes people in real life. It could be that they encounter seriously objectionable answers and instead of ignoring them they down rate them. There are also other reasons to have a lot of down rates that could spill over into real life. On is that they are competitive and want to have the number one answer so they down rate all the other answers under that question. In real life they may cheat to get ahead. All manner of things are possible I guess. Also that person my not rate that many things so a 70% or lower may be skewed compared to someone with 7,000 ratings. Ha! I gave you points. I wonder how long that will last? lol
  • I think some people haven't caught on to the Giving aspect of this site yet, and veterans must be tight and withholding if they have a 70% or less on the (+ ratings) given scale. It's fun to give points, most people have a good attitude about it and enjoy giving!
