  • Not always. Some people are just more comfortable with the opposite sex. For instance a girl that grows up in a house full of brothers may feel more comfortable being friends with guys and vice versa.
  • I think it can largely depend on the circumstances when the friendship first begins. If both are open about there relationship status then I believe it can. Its when one (usually the man in my experience) fails to reveal that he is in a relationship, in one case I know of a man not revealing he is gay relationship, then this can cause problems.
  • Men and women often have platonic friendships, where neither of them has any sexual desire for the other. I've had several such friendships - all these friends were in strong relationships, as was I and neither their partners nor mine felt challenged because they were also friends.
  • Yes,platonic doesnt mean that one is not alowed to fall in love with the other,it happens every day! we need to be honest with each other!
  • Platonic relationships are based on friendship only.
