  • I like the idea of a lottery. The system is highly technical, but it comes down to random chance. The team who needs a good player the most, usually doesn't get the chance to pick first. The system is used to deter teams from tanking, but in reality, there was a 75% chance Boston wouldn't get the first pick, and a 39.5% chance they wouldn't get a top 3 pick at all. Tanking games doesn't guarantee the top pick in the NBA as it would in the NFL. If you want to talk about a team tanking a game, look no further than the Minnesota Timberwolves. They lost badly to the worst team in the league on the last day of the regular season. Had they won, their first round pick would have gone to the Clippers due to a trade provision. They in fact "tanked" their last 7 games, only one of which was by less than 10 points, in order to keep that lottery pick
  • because the team who wins the Championship gets the last pick unless they trade someone for a pick than they get a different pick
