air babs inflate with a verry high pressure to be able to be inflated in a fraction of a second . this is to stop your body from flying into the dash or windshield, it is NOT soft and fluffy It becoms rather solid for a brief few seconds, and then the air slowly leaks out.

From the Consumer Information Center of the US Government "Most air bag injuries are minor cuts, bruises, or abrasions" for more information see: http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/cars/airbags/brochure.html For a really gruesome picture of what damage airbags can inflict see Killer Airbags: http://www.easternforensic.com/killer_airbags.htm

I was once the first one to a car after an accident in which the air bag had deployed. The driver had what looked like a brush burn that was bleeding on his forehead where it had rubbed on the air bag - much better than if his face had hit the steering wheel or windshield. I'm glad you're as physically OK as you are natzer, but you might want to think about talking to someone to take care of any mental injuries also. Sudden deaths can leave us feeling stuff we are not always ready to deal with. Good luck.

You do have places to turn. Make sure you turn to them. It is amazing how quickly things can improve when you talk to the right person. This was meant to be a comment to an earlier answer - Sorry.

They have nylon soft material and you can put your face in it after an accident and it not hurt you. There soft and nylon material and just they are soft and comfortable

They are hard and violent and can bruise and hurt people. They can even kill children. These are NOT pillows!

Airbags are not soft and fluffy. They come out with force that can literally break limbs and the powder inside can burn when it comes in contact with your skin...the way it comes out, you can cut yourself just from the sheer force.

Airbags are smooth but very strong. Their is an explosive charge in the SRS module that forces the airbag out of its shoot in a fraction of a second. The force is so great that injury or death can occur in the worst situations. Friction burns are not uncommon in airbag deployments. some things to think about while in the front seat: 1.Don't fall asleep on the steering wheel. An airbag deployment will do bad things to your head. 2.Don't put your feet up on the passenger dash. An airbag deployment will introduce your knees to your skull or smash your feet on the windsheild. 3.Obviously, avoid putting child seats anywhere near and airbag. Alway the rear seat if possible. New front airbag systems are now equipped with weight sensors in the seats to deactivate the airbag if the passenger is too small.
