Yes, when I got ill I had every imaginable sickness written about in the Medical Encylopedia I owned. When I finally got my diagnosis, what I had wasn't even written about in that book, go figure.

yes. i would get the sicknesses and write a book, i think it would sell pretty well. it would be pretty creepy but what ever.

Yes, I could own one. I'm the opposite, I still wouldn't believe it if I had every sign of a disease.

Oh no way I could never handle having a medical dictionary ... If I ever got one and put it on a shelf in my room ... I'd hear it talk to me every night . I'd break out in hives just because I have the book. Having a medical book in your room or house is very very dangerous... do you know how dangerous books are ? wheew they can kill you.

i think i've heard this referred to as "medical student syndrome". i wouldn't want one of those dictionaries either!

I'd have no problem with it. I often look up symptoms online to get an idea how concerned I need to be about something. But, I also realize that even the sniffles could be caused by a hundred different things. You just have to know your body & not freak out about every little problem you have.

Aghhh never! I've convinced myself that I have skin cancer after looking at a picture of a cancerous mole in a magazine. After going to the doctor, he chuckled, said my mole was not even close to cancerous, but said "Good question, though!" I had a tampon in for 3 hours, and it wasn't soaking with blood (eh, sorry for that description haha). I read a thing about TSS afterwards, and saw that one of the symptoms was dizziness. All of a sudden, I felt dizzy. No fever, no rash, no nausea. But I was dizzy. Therefor, I thought that I MUST have TSS. My favorite hypochondriac moment was when I thought that I was pregnant, even though I'm a virgin. I figured this because I heard stories about how it IS possible for semen to soak through 4 layers of clothes (while sitting on some guy's lap).

I've got the Merck Index, Grey's Anatomy, a dictionary of medical terms, I could fill a book shelf with them. And I don't read through them finding things that I don't have. I use them as references when a doctor says something so I can understand better.
