What bit of common sense do you assume everybody knows? (example: dont touch a pan that just came out of the hot oven with your bare hands)

After living with my soon-to-be mother in law, I have dropped all faith in humanity's grasp on common sense. Totally. I think she'd forget to poop if we didn't remind her sometimes.

Don't stick your finger in that hole! DOn't grab bare wires. DOon't use an electrical appliance while bathing.

Use your rear view mirrors, (on your car), when backing up. You'd be surprised...

I'm not sure there is much that is truly common sense. I think most everything we know we have to learn from experience.
