  • Traumatic experiences can effect a life time at no matter what age they experienced the trauma. Children who experience the terrible offenses still have memories and I'm certain some do have flashbacks. The actual military veterans are probably in their late 70's and up. I work in a nursing home and all the veterans can tell stories. I know a few who had nightmares until the day they died.
  • Thanks to the History Channel, I get to relive the experiences of WWII again and again. I've seen the same episode a few times already so it feels like I am having flashbacks.
  • If you ever get the chance go to the Normandy beaches. Fifty years later you can still feel the pain and fear.
  • Yes, but only if you are too young to have experienced it firsthand. An event that traumatic, both physically, mentally and emotionally would, I imagine, leave strong memories within a person. Even those people who seem to be able to talk about their own events and recount past tragedies, though they may find it helps enormously to share with others, will still feel the pain that they felt beforethough perhaps not as intense in some cases).
