Well, when I proposed to my wife, I took her to her favorite place in the world, (a beach about 2 hours away from our house). We sat there for the whole night, had some wine, and near the wee hours of the morning, I quietly whispered into her ear that I would love to marry her. It wasn't fancy, but I think it was more appreciated than grand gestures that some of our friends have done.

someplace beautiful, peaceful. a deserted beach comes to mind. and a proposal on bended knee is very romantic...

...with heartfelt emotion...while looking into the person's eyes...in a rather quiet setting...possibly holding hands... its one of those times that its ok to be a little cliche and overly emotional...really, its ok...its a meaningful moment in time...the first time you express love or commitment to someone is a moment he or she may remember forever

You do not propose love, it should just happen and both parties know it. If you need to propose it, then somebody isn't feeling it.
