"The Anglican Rosary is similar to the Catholic rosary in that it's a set of prayer beads, a "tactile prayer device," for Christian devotion, but the similarities stop there." "The prayers of the Anglican rosary are also less formal than its Roman counterpart. There are many different prayers used with this rosary, and many people make up their own." Source: http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1066630 "In the mid-1980s Anglican prayer beads or "Christian prayer beads" were developed in the Episcopal Church. They have since been adopted by some Protestants. The set consists of 33 beads (representing the 33 years of the life of Christ) arranged in four groupings of symbolic significance. Many Anglo-Catholics use the Catholic rosary in addition to or instead of Anglican prayer beads." Well, blow me down. I am an Anglican by upbringing, wife of an Anglican minister (who is now serving in another denomination) but I have never heard of or seen an Anglican rosary (and I was raised High Anglican!) I would have thought that was a very Catholic thing, a "Romish doctrine" as the 39 Articles would put it. I was always taught that we did not use the Rosary for the reason that Christ said, before instituting the Lord's Prayer as our model prayer: In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6)

To begin with, the Angican Rosary is about 20 beads shorter than the Roman Catholic Rosary. It is also less formal as the set of perscribed prayers varies.
