My computer shuts off in the middle of being in programs. have to unplug it and replug the computer to get it to turn on again. Do you know what would cause this?

V I R U S E S They will shut your computer completely down, if not corrected.

It could be a power supply issue, a broken part somewhere, a virus, etc. Try runnning a live cd for a while to see if it is a hardware issue and then report back.

Same problem here. No specific time of running, just totally shuts off in the blink of an eye and leaves my mouth hanging open. I'm running Vista 64x and it's a pain trying to find a good reg cleaner that's free. My service people without looking at it suggests I remove the power supply and test to see if it has enough power. I'm not ready to do this but I have tried a lot of things with no success. I'm on the edge of reformatting. I just got my PC a few months ago. This started after I moved it to another location and went wireless. But I've also downloaded a bunch of crap.

That choppy sounding CD is an indication that some program is running that is taking all the system resources on you. 1) Uninstall any of those programs you downloaded and don't need. 2) Download "Quick Startup", and deselect any unnecessary programs from starting up when your computer does. http://www.glarysoft.com/quick-startup/ 3) Download and install "A-Squared Free" and run it to rid your computer of any malware you might have picked up. http://www.emsisoft.com/en/ P.S. you can right-click on the task bar and select Task Manager to see what's using all your system resources on you. Click on the "Processes" tab, and then click on the memory or CPU columns to sort for the culprit.

check inside to see if fan is running on cpu. sounds like cpu is getting to hot and shuts down
