  • I totally agree with you 100 percent - Nobody should be bashed for their beliefs
  • Hi, Its like when the Titanic first started sinking. A lot of people just didnt believe it. But the ones who did believe were right after all. If you ever need a friend. Please define what you think a friend is. Thanks again Ghostemployee7@yahoo.com
  • There are just people out there that believe their religion so strongly that they lose all respect for those that may believe differently. When a person gets like this, they lose sight of the fact that God created all of us with the ability to choose for ourselves if we will follow Him. So, such people, wanting to bring salvation to the poor lost masses, try to force their religion off onto everyone else. In the process, they don't see how disrespectful they are. They also don't see how much of a turnoff their tactics are. Yes, their attacks on the beliefs of other may bring in a few converts, but they wind up alienating more people than they convert. I believe that most of these people are sincere in their beliefs, but I find it very hard to respect someone who does not respect my right to follow God according to the dictates of my own conscience.
  • perhaps they believe in there religion so much that they feel as thought they need to "save" you, but i completly understand where you are coming from, there is no need to force your beliefs upon anyone else!
  • I agree with most of the other comments, but I think there is another big factor at play here too. People want to feel that their beliefs are well-supported. It's just human nature that, deep-down, we prefer beliefs that feel true to those that don't. However, with faith-based beliefs, the support doesn't come as much from the normal sources of evidence and logic, so people need to compensate somehow. One way they do this is by convincing others, and/or banding together with others who already believe the same faith-based beliefs. This adds a sense of credibility to the beliefs, somewhat making up for the lack of supporting evidence. Basically, they try to use their combined numbers to make up for the missing evidence.
  • Unfortunately some people practice not religion but fanaticism. Keep away from them.
  • I canot answer for others. Sometimes it is just such a deep passion for their beliefs coupled with a profound concern for the other person and a desire to see them come into their own personal faith. Sometimes it is insecurity. However, I do respect you and your right not to believe. I think God gave it to you. If you did not have it, you could not freely choose to believe. I will keep on sharing and you will keep on making up your own mind and I will keep on respecting you as a person of dignity. That is how it is supposed to work <smile>.
  • I am an atheist, and I find that most people do not respect my right not to believe, but, AS an atheist, I also don't care. I have no eternal consequence for saying whatever and moving on. No worries. I don't think atheists should care about saying god in the pledge of allegiance. I don't care about In god we trust on our money. I look at it this way. Those that believe can be offended by saying something they believe does not exist, but someone who does not believe has no reason to care. Extremist Atheists give us just as bad a name as extremists give Muslims.
