As a pastor's wife, I have listened to many people tell me their problems, and, even after nearly 30 years, it can still distress me. Things happen out there in the world that should NEVER happen, and there are a lot of unhappy people, understandably unhappy when you hear their stories. Fortunately, there is hope for many in counselling, and hope for all in Jesus.

Your avatar reminds me of "OWNEROFTHEUNIVERSE", as for your question: YES!! I hate it when I hear complaints of any kind, Why would anyone care of the day to day problems of anyone else? The only exception for me is a terminal sickness, that's it

I do feel badly for people when they tell me about their problems, although it does depend on what they are talking about - if they are always talking about something they can actually fix, then I truly lose any sympathy I may have.

I went through a time where I needed good friends to tell my problems to, and they were always there for me. It's my way of giving back-to listen to peoples' problems and try to help them in any way I can, be that mental, emotional or monetary support; I make an honest effort to be there for them even if I don't care about a certain problem they're having at the time. So it does sometimes distress me, but not very often. I don't mind it very much.

only when they expect me to solve their problems (literally, take care of it myself...for them). That gets old...

No..if someone feels the need to talk to me about something that is really bothering them..not at all

It often bores me. But there are those who I sincerely care about.

Not until they start coming to me with every single little problem in their lives. Then it's more just getting tired of hearing their complaints than being distressed.

When they go on and on - only for me to tell them what they want to hear -- YES -- Because I won't
