To quote John MacArthur, from his discussion on Larry King "September 11: Where was God?" "I don't question whether there is a God. I don't even question what God chooses to allow. It's not a matter of my opinion. As a Bible teacher and one who believes that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God, Scripture tells us that God is absolutely sovereign; that everything that occurs, occurs within the framework of his purpose."

I see were you're coming from, this world is full of nothing but suffering and misery. And no, God doesn't like the condition of things today. But if you sincerely want an answer to your question, then please consider this article. http://www.watchtower.org/e/200611/article_02.htm

Question of the Ages,TR. The believer's question is, What kind of game is God playing with the human race/the world? Have you read Job? I have read and re-read it so many times I can spout it out like an actor. I don't say the play is "divinely inspired". It is a play, by the way. A very good one, actually, considering the time it was written. But, I can't say that it was not inspired, either. "Define inspired, Tom", (Get out!) It was an attempt to reconcile the very question you ask. "Why do good men suffer and why does Evil prosper...in a world created by a just and perfect God?" After many chapters of dialogue from men and silence from God,...God finally speaks. Yes, He Himself. The One we all think we would like to ask so many questions of if we could, but of Whom we are really terrified. God appears in a whirlwind. Well, God first lays Job low. "Where were you when I founded the Universe, and established the boundaries (laws) thereof? Do you understand or know anything about My works? You don't even know where the wild birds go in winter or where leviathon (the Whale) spends his days. You feel the winds on your face, but know not whence they came or where they go." (I am paraphrasing). At the end, Job confesses his ignorance and awe and God tells him he is really OK, for a two-legged ape and he will be alright. Job is restored to health and prosperity. What has Job (and you) learned? You can't know God or His ways. You can only have faith in Him. Well, thus endeth Job's tale. Not really too helpful, perhaps, but, the questions asked are cosmic. You really should read it. This last little addendum is mine. Given this cosmic problem play, we Christians believe that the questions asked by Job are legitimate and have been answered in an equally cosmic way.>> Whatever "game" God is playing with the human race, He was/is willing to take His own medicine. He became Job, became "us", not "spiritually" only, but literally. "OK, kids, this is how it's done, ..I will do it myself. This is how you should live, work, love, sing, dance, eat and drink, and give praise for your wonderful gift of life..." And it cost him His. He knew it would. He did it, anyway. And He did not just die like we all do, in time. He was murdered slowly and painfully. He knew He would be. "OK, it's done. Now, do you see What and Who I am? How can you hate and do evil to each other when you know what I feel for you all? >>And, you can see that I am not dead. You will not be dead either, if you wish to follow me and be with me. I have already chosen you, but you must choose me." That's it. Thanks for your time.
