I like to try to stop it at exactly 0, WITHOUT it beeping. (it takes practice). Otherwise I usually stop it some seconds before, because the beep annoys me.

G'day Anonymous, Thank you for your question. I let it go the full time. It is a real pain having to put it through two or three times until its done. I tend to follow the instructions and it turns out good. If anything, I tend to leave it in the microwave a bit too long. Regards

I usually stop it at 1 second. Instead of pressing the stop button, I press the button on the microwave that unlocks the door, that way I don't have to hear any beeps. Over the years I've developed an accurate mental clock by doing this. For instance, I could have something in the microwave set for 5 minutes, go back to whatever I was doing, and then go back into the kitchen when there are exactly 5 seconds left. I think microwaves should be built with a mute button like TV's. It would really come in handy when you have crotchety people around the house who are bothered by the slightest noise. I'm sure even the average person is tired of hearing the stupid "BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!" People are bound to develop some sort of appetite-killing stress disorder from hearing it regularly :p Here's an even better idea, instead of the beeping noise, how about a microwave that makes a much more relaxed sound like the seatbelt/no smoking signs on an airliner, or a deep goofy voice that says "YUM" lol
