  • My guess (and that's all it is) is parts just 'wear out'. When you think about it, our heart never stops pumping for our entire life, bones become brittle, but I think everything comes down to our heart.
  • "Death by natural causes" simply means that the person was so old and decrepit that they would be bound to have died soon, and that there is no point in doing an expensive autopsy to determine which bit of the body it was that actually failed. I don't think that it is allowed in the UK nowadays - some detailed reason for death has always to be found.
  • "Natural causes" means merely that the person died of some disease process and not by some external means, such as accidental or intentional trauma inflicted by others or by oneself. The exact disease process is really nobody's business and the public has no inherent right to know. "Natural causes" is often published in the media as the cause of a person's death. This enlightens the public that no one caused this person's death by violent means, but it doesn't violate the privacy of the deceased and/or the family by revealing details. However, "natural causes" is not an acceptable entry on a death certificate, so that document contains a more exact cause of death. That document is not shared with the public; infact, its content is shielded from the public.
  • Natural causes means old age or a lingering disease, like cancer. An unnatural cause could be murder, suicide, or an accident.
