Question

Help answer this question below.

Honest question: When someone says they pray for something to happen, they say say they are "talking to "god"". Well if "god" isn't in their mind, of human form, how can they speak to "him", as speaking and having a voice is of human nature?

His powers are such that "Not a leaf falleth but He knoweth it" (HQ 6:59). His closeness to us is described in HQ 50:16, "We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein." and you can't get any closer. Those who think God won't hear them if they don't speak aloud are told in HQ 20:7 "And if thou speakest aloud, then Lo! He knoweth the secret (thought) and (that which is yet) more hidden." Hope that has shed extra light.

'Speaking' is just the easier way than saying 'communicating.'

Just a comment! God spoke to me once and I was not even praying, I was getting ready to fall asleep and a loud thunderous voice filled my room. Even though the voice was loud and thunderous it did not hurt my ears in any way. The soundwaves from his voice filled my entire body, it felt like when you stand next to a large speaker in a concert and you cover your ears because it's too loud but the vibration is still felt.
I knew right away it was God speaking with power to me, His voice althought strong and thunderous it was gentle and soft. My sister who happened to be in the room next to mine did not hear anything and she was awake, it was a little past 10pm. God's words were "I am" that's all He said and have not heard from Him ever since, this was back in November 2000.

There are three way's of handling the fact the univese doesn't care:

One ignore it, and pretend it hasn't happened and that you can talk to it.

The other accept it and go on. Doing what you can.

    Third is rebel.

Most choose the first - personally I choose the second - many choose the third

    Good question. This is a true story;
When I was about 7 years old, I was playing in my backyard at night time. We had big trees and it was summer and very hot. I was running around jumping in the sprinklers having a grand old time when some quiet inner voice told me to stop and freeze dead in my tracks. The best way I can describe this voice was pure peace, not scary or frightening at all, like it was myself, but different. I stopped and about 4 inches in front of my face was a brown recluse spider. If I would have kept on running, I would have run right into it and gotten bitten. That inner voice that was myself, but gentle, peaceful and strong I know was God.

Good question:) I feel that when we are speaking to and labeling God as a "him," it is to enable most of us humans to comprehend the incomprehensible. We are constantly connected to and are a part of the creation--and we are in constant communication. It is usually in times of stress and need, that we realize this and become conscious of it. So many of the great mystics (including JC) knew they were in constant communication with the Devine.

...trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We come to God through His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and through His blood, as well as by the Holy Ghost. God hears our prayers that our in His Son's name and He is all-knowing and omnipresent, so we are talking to Him because we spiritually approach His throne through the precious blood of Jesus.
I hope that this helps. :)

People use the term "talking to God" because many prayers of verbal especially group prayers.

Prayer is much more than talking to God. Prayer is communion and communication with God.

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer. "Man is a beggar before God."

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, part four: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt4sect1.htm

    With love in Christ.

God IS in your mind. Religion is a very personal thing.

Communicating with God is communicating with your higher belief...and whatever you believe in is real to you.

When they mean speak to him, they don't mean physically, but maybe they pray for soemthing in particular, like an answer to a question; the answer will come in symbols in ther dreams at night, or over the course of the day. It's just something that shows you, helps guide you. It's not physical, but lies within the beliefs of the beholder held within their minds.

That's what religion is; faith, belief, personal power. Not a physical God.

His Holy Spirit is in my heart, He is omnipresent and omniscient-He is everywhere and knows all. I actually do not pray directly to God, I ask all through my Savior Jesus Christ. For Christians this is what we do, Jesus died so that He could ascend into Heaven and speak for us to our Abba Father.

Good question, hope this helps your inquiry.

    In His service,
    <:))))<><
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

Edit: I speak to Him, through Jesus Christ; He has spoken to me-I know that I heard His voice once. He will speak to anybody who asks, but we have to want to hear His voice and be quiet enough to hear what He has to say. When I lost my job a few years ago, I started to pray for guidance in what I should do next. Should I get a job or go back to school? After months of prayers, there were no job offers, but the doors to going back to college were wide open. If God wants you to do something (IE: get a job) then He will open those doors, if He wants you to go to school, then those doors open. But you can not say 'oh, I want to go to school instead of working,' because if it is not His will then you will not succeed. It is really difficult to explain, some people do have conversations with God. I know that He spoke to me once because He told me that once I got my education I was to set up a trust fund with the extra money I made so that other single parents needing help with utilities would have a place to go for help. Does this help explain a little bit more? I hope so, I don't know how else to put it. <:))))<><

Your whole life as a human is a gift of God and God is not bounded by any worldly requirements and things.

When the people play they are relaying their message to God and getting the answer; telepathically.

It is not only for Christians but for jews, Muslims ...

God through the holy Quran explains this in very simple ways:

The only relationship (of humans) with God is Islam.

The same God of Haroon (Prophet Haroon)and Musa (Prophet Moses).

AND God is closer to the humans then the vain close to your throat.

When you have time just go through the English Translation of holy Quran; you believe it or NOT it doesn't make any difference.

    Have a nice day.
