Well, when I lived at home, my father and stepmother were incerdibly busy getting a Sunday meal ready as well as getting dressed up for Church in their Sunday best. There was invariably stressm, and most weeks we got to church at the last minute or late! I saw no rest those mornings.

As a pastor's wife, I can sympathise with all that is packed into Sunday (that is why my man has Monday to physically rest). But rest, to the Christian, is not simply refraining from activity, as the world may see it. Instead, it is a time to dedicate solely to the Lord and be an example and a witness in ways that you cannot be on other days. It is also a day for joining together with the rest of the Body of Christ to praise God for His goodness. It is interesting to see the view of Heaven given in Revelation. It seems that after death (often called "rest" in Scripture), heaven is not a place to sit on a cloud and play harp. Instead, it is a place of activity, with singing and gathering taking place before the throne of the Almighty. It can also be gleaned from Scripture that it is also a place of learning, where we deepen the knowledge we have had of Him. I am more worried about Sunday disappearing as a day of in Australia. My elder daughter cannot get a job because she wants to worship with us on Sundays, and every position demands she work Sundays.

At my church, we stress casual dress. Although there are those that just don't feel right about coming to church and not being dressed to the nines. Our pastors work Sunday through Thursday and have their weekends on Friday/Saturday. For me personally, we go to contemporary service at 942am and dress very casually-I do wear a nice shirt, no t-shirts. After the service I go to Sunday school and my daughter goes to Kidz Worship. Then we go home and hopefully we got the laundry done Saturday, so we set back and relax. I watch Nascar and she does whatever, catch up on homework, watch DVD's. Some business's (like Chick-fil-a) is owned by a Christian and they are closed on Sundays. Great question. In His service, <:))))<>< "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
