A bird of prey. With claws and a sharp beak and the ability to fly away or attack when in danger. Actually, I'd be quite happy just to have wings.

A cat, definitely. They are very inquisitive, intelligent creatures (OK, so stretching the truth on that one!) who are very lazy, spending most of their time dozing in the sunshine (sounds perfect). When they are not snoozing, they enjoy eating (yep) and cleaning themselves (I take aaaages in the shower), but on occasion they can produce blinding bursts of speed and agility to get that house/bird/rabbit when they want to.
