I think he'd be more ashamed of all the fighting and blood shed going on "in his name". I think that is what would break his heart.

Definitely, though that's not saying much... EVERYONE should be ashamed at the way religion (western & others) has and still is exploiting people.

Yes, I believe that Jesus would be sickened by what is being done in his name here on earth today. Jesus said of some who would claim to follow him: “Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness.” (Matthew 7:22, 23) Jesus also showed how to identify one who is part of God’s people. He said: “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.”—Matthew 7:21. Mohandas Gandhi had said it well: ‘I love Christ, but I despise Christians because they do not live as Christ lived.’

I'm not sure if He would be ashamed but I do think he would be disappointed with many aspects of western society today, including the Church. Read chapters 5-7 in Matthew and it is pretty plain that many values and norms of our society are in conflict with the teachings of the Lord Jesus.

I think he'd be a little baffled by the death cult that sprung up in his name, not to mention all the depictions of him as a blue-eyed white dude instead of a middle-eastern jew. But then, I also think he was a judaic religious thinker that got elevated to godly status by his over-enthusiastic followers after he was unexpectedly executed, cobbling together bits of tribal religion and myth into a messiah/human sacrifice story many decades after the fact. So what do I know? ;)
