  • oh yeah most homophobes come across a latent mo's. My gaydar goes thorugh the roof! Esp if they start to describe in detail how disgusting gay sex is....LMAO
  • many things, i would imagine. sadly, in the American south, you have a lot of people who are raised with homophobia implanted into their brains. I just read another question on AB about episcopalinism and homosexuality, and you should the judgements getting dished out there. 'episcopalians don't follow christ blah blah blah'
  • I've found that half the time yes, but the other half the time they just haven't befriended a homosexual to see how unthreatening they can be.
  • I'm reminded of a story told by the great comedian, Ron White wherein part of his act is mocking homophobic men. In his act, White talks about a friend who is a homophobe. He starts by asking the audience, "Is being afraid of gay people not the most useless thing you can be?" White then explains how he informed a friend that everyone's gay to some extent. Of course, the friend emphatically denies this, leading White to offer to prove it. He does so by asking his friend if he watches straight porn. "Yeah, I love it!" says the friend. White then asks, "Now do you like seeing the guys in straight porn with small half-flaccid penises?" "No!" the doofus hollers. "I like'em big, hard, and..." Well, let's just say he proves Larry's point.
  • Ignorance, prejudice, misconceptions, but mostly insecurity.
  • I would say yes..I think they are insecure about their own sexuality.
  • I think that people who are afraid of homosexuality are afraid they might like it. They aren't secure with their sexuality enough, so they have to overcompensate by coming off as macho, or hateful. If they were comfortable with their sexuality, if a person of their same sex hit on them, they would be comfortable enough to say, "I'm sorry, but i'm not interested" and leave it at that. It's like the Will and Grace finale, where Will thinks Jack is in the hospital, and the guy in the body cast starts spouting some religious bullshit, and so Will kisses him, and the guy says "Call me!".
