There may be some Baptist groups which oppose military service. Most that I am aware of consider it honorable. Even among those who oppose it, only a portion would actually exclude someone from church membership over it.

I fall into the "most" category mentioned in Jalex's answer. It is indeed honorable to stand up for God and country. There will come a day when God will send a mighty army to the final battle of good and evil. If I am lucky enough to be one of His soldiers that day, I will proudly climb on my white horse and go praising God the whole way. I'll be begging to be one who will feed many birds that day. ( see Rev. 19) To serve in the army on Earth is training. I did serve and would again if I could.Anyone who serves now deserves all the honor and respect that we can give them, Amen. no . no Christian is allowed the experience of warfare except by gods order or self defense. any true Christian would never purposely put themselves in a situation where they may have to be instructed to take a life or where there is obvious hostility to inspire violence.

The Baptist church believes that as honorable citizens we should support our country in any and all areas.

The problem is keeping them out. All too often they feel that military service is an opportunity for them to lead a crusade.
