Depends on what you want to do. I used 2 channel amps and more subs for a long time. Took up more space to produce the sound I wanted. I went to Higher Watt Subs and wired them in parallel, using the Higher Watt Amps (Single Channel). I now produce the same sound, or more, with less space used.

You are best off trying to find subs that can be wired parallel. and an amp that supports that set up because I have been using single channell or two channel bridged on mutliple speakers. however u wanna make sure the amp has a fan or two. It does draw alot of power and causes alot of heat. just again to be sure that you have correct size power wire and ground. and a fuse supported power wire at that

if you match the rms of the sub to the rms of the amp and have the right size box you will get what you are looking for. i have 2 12" JL Audio w/0 4 ohm that are 125 watt rms each in a 1.25 cu. ft. box per sub with a JL Audio 250/1 amp and it hits as hard as a 1,000 watt system. its loud and clear and one of the best i have ever had.

That depends....do you want to drive more speakers or do you want to drive a smaller number of speakers with more power? If the first, then get a multi-channel amp. If the second, then get a (typically) 2-channel amp with more power.
