While I am unfamiliar with the exact technical bodily functions surrounding this particular subject, in general terms, everybody hears their own voice differently to what it actually sounds like to everyone else. No one is familiar with their own voice when it is played back to them, because it sounds different to how each person perceives their own voice to sound like. It has something to do with the fact that we begin to hear our own sound in the throat sort of thing or somesuch, and our ears pick up our own voice differently to other sounds. I think that's kind of right, but as I said I'm not sure exactly how it works. You're perfectly fine hearing wise though. It's nothing to worry about.

We are always our own worst critics. I hate hearing myself back, and I am semi-professional. Sometimes I hate what I have done and others say it was good... remember that the recorder you have is probably not the best to judge what you sound like. WHen you hear it through a professional desk, you feel better about it. Keep it up and be encouraged. If others love your voice, you are probably much better than you think you are...cheers

You hear yourself through bone conduction. The microphone uses air conduction, unless it is a throat mike.
