The Sonicview 360 is a satellite receiver used to view free to air satellite signals (FTA). DirecTV is a company that sells satellite subscriptions. If you have a satellite dish form DirecTV, you can use it to receive FTA signals, but if you were to receive DirecTV channels, that would be illegal.
