I hope not. There is unfortunately a very good possibility that there will be. It depends on how well supported and strong the Federal Government is. If Washington is ever percieved as being unable to maintain order then the possibilities for civil war will increase dramatically.

There has never actually been a "civil war". A civil war is when two factions of a nation struggle to take control. The war that has erroneously been tagged the American "Civil War" was actually a war for southern independence, much like the American Revolution. Perhaps is should have been called the Southern Revolution????

It depends what you mean by "civil war". If you envision a military struggle akin to the "War Between The States", then it's highly unlikely. Back in the 1860s, military forces consisted largely of a bunch of guys carrying rifles. In modern times, the military has become so technology-oriented that only a nation-state can maintain it. If you envision 'civil war' akin to the current sectarian violence in Iraq, then it would not surprise me if the United States fell into such a struggle. As the United States becomes increasingly economically stratified and our government becomes more and more beholden to the uppermost economic strata (which has been the trend over the past 40 years or so), the economically displaced will have little to lose by resorting to violence in attempting to change the situation.

Perhaps. It would be nice if the states could retake power usurped by the Federal government. The US is too big, it should be broken up in to smaller regions.

I doubt it, though I sure wish that some states would break into south and north, like California. The central and north parts of California just have nothing in common with the southern half. Break free!!!

Yes, This country is in a tight spot. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer, and theres no going back, The cost of living here is greater than what people are making, Were acting like every thing is fine but its only a matter of time until the truth sets in and people start realizing the Mainstream Media are liars, and if we dont act were going to end up homeless and starve on the streets.. and I don't want that for my family, I will do what I have to to get by, but when people set up a wall that prevents me and my fellow Americans from simply "getting by" that wall must be broken and I'd be willing to use force to do it

I think Capitalism is failing fast and socialism is creeping up dramatically through out a lot of people over the world, which can be a good thing. I heard that U.S.A is secretly lowering the borders between Mexico and Canada making it something like the North American Union, similar to the E.U There will be 4 major powers on earth, theres the E.U, the African Union, The Asian Union and soon to be the North American Union. The people behind all of this called "the bilderbergers" will not stop until complete unity of the world, a One World Government. People that don't believe this are deceived as they want you to be. If the American people knew the plans of this world organization then i can assure you there would be mass riots and protests. Rich versus poor? Don't know because the rich will want to hire someone to fight for them but whomever they hire will not be as rich. Conservative versus liberal? Possible because conservatives get themselves so worked up. Religious war? Always possible.

We don't need another American Civil War, that would do us no good. What we do need is another Revolutionary War and revolt against the federal government, which has gotten way out of hand.

i am glad there are at least a few people who have not been groomed like sheep to think the government has our best interest in mind i am by no means a conspiracy theorist but all you have to do is read the bible and watch the news there will be a civil war because people will not stand to have their rights taken away completely we have put up with too much already we need to ask ourselves weather we will sit by and watch our freedom and everything that makes this country great laid to ruin due to the greed and lust for power that the elites have? would that also mean that every man and woman that has given the ultimate sacrifice for this country have died in vein ? we need to stand up and make it known that we will not sit by and let this happen! we need to take back controll of our government. the government needs to be by thepeople,of the people, and for the people again only we can retake controll of this country again! no one will do it for us. this is not just a rumor on the street and it is nation wide this is going to be a war of the people against the government! just remember Adolf Hitler proposed a globalized government controlled by him! that is where we are headed as a collective.

As much as one would think there should be or not. American society would be too afraid. We have the nintento and scoobie doo generation on the streets. American society will join together if a foriegn country or terrist attacks. But we will not attack our neighbors.
