Is God responsible for provision of food for all men, if not, why we (Christians) thank him before we eat?

Maybe because it is a fact that while you are ready to eat there are thousands of people starving and dying because they don't have any food at all. Christians thank God because they feel lucky that they have some food in their plates.

God has promised to take care of our needs-food is a need because without it we will die. We thank Him for providing us food to nourish our bodies and our minds.
