Not in government run schools. If you choose to send a kid to a religious school - no worries. In general I think separation of state and religion is a good thing.

I would not be opposed to any religious writing being taught in school if it was 1) elective and 2) taught as a study of the writing as literature, and not as a teaching of the religion. The Bible as literature was taught in my public high school before I got there and I was disappointed it was removed from offering before I could take it.

No religion should be taught in school. If it was possible all religions would have to be taught and represented equally and with the time permitted with school subjects it would not be likely.

I personally would be all for it. As long as it was a dissection of the literature and not in any way preachy. I would like it to be ALL of the religious books, like the Koran and the Torah, and any of the other "Bibles". It would be nice to know what everyone else believes.

No, school is for fact not theory

There is a course called "The Bible as Literature," and I would have no objection to its being taught on that basis. Much of the world's greatest literature, film and theater alludes to the Bible and it is important to have be familiar with it. Unfortunately, fewer of us read the Bible or go to sunday School. I speak as an agnostic--not as a person who believes that one must believe in God.

absolutly but I feel the lack of god in schools is the reason public schools are so violent my kids will go to private schools or homeschooling....period.

Most definitely. It would be great if people could be taught about different religions instead of just being told which religions are right and which are wrong. I know that in some countries, the young children are taught that a certain religion is the only correct religion and that every other religion is evil and incorrect.

So long as it's a voluntary class. I wouldn't want to have religion forced upon me for the third time in my life.
