  • Writing captivating and educational books for children isn't always easy, and it can also be challenging to find a publisher. With hard work, determination and support from others, it is possible to get your children's book published.

    Research Book Publishers

Every book publisher is different, so before writing query letters research the publishers and request free samples or catalogs from them. This will help you determine if you should send your query letter and manuscript to them. Another thing you can do is get the latest edition of Writer's Market, which lists the addresses and submission guidelines of publishers.

    Write Query Letters

Once you've finished your final draft of the children's book, write query letters to the publishers. In the query letters you want to state why your book stands apart from other children's books. For example, if you're writing about a teenage boy who lost his father in military combat, you can discuss how the teenage boy was inspired by his father's sacrifice and decides to serve in the Marines after high school. Your query letters should be one page long.

    Send Your Manuscript

Now that you found a publisher who will accept and pay for your book, send the manuscript. Every publisher has different guidelines, but in general you should double-space your manuscript and be sure that the font is in Times New Roman and font size is 12. Hold your manuscript pages together with paper clips or a single rubber band in the middle and mail the manuscript in a regular mailing box.
