Yes, I can usually get it done in under a minute. I have moved onto the 4x4 cube and once tested the 5x5. Its a different story with those ones.

Yes, at my peak I could do it in 50 seconds (mean average) and my recored was 36.39 seconds. That was all at a pretty young age - people used to bring their cubes in to school and get me to solve it for them. Then my cube broke during one solve and I wasn't able to fix it in the normal way. I brought a new one, but it was too stiff so I lost my touch. I can still solve them (about 1 min 15 average), but not in the same way as I used to, and not as much.

If anyone out there is looking to improve their time I have a couple of tips. Put vaseline of some type of lubricant inbetween the joints of the cube, it will be much easier and smoother to turn. If there's an algorithm you are slow at, just do it over and over for about ten minutes, you'll soon get quicker. Also study the mathematical behaviour of the cube and come up with a couple more complex algorithms, which may only be optional but crucial in a solve. Combine algorithms to skip out any unnecessary turns.

    Good luck :D

I have also taught myself the 5x5 cube, and am waiting to find a 4x4 cube in a shop so I can teach myself that on too :)

yup... But I cheated, I liked taking them apart and then putting them back together again.

It solves it, and I don't get a headache.

My son is one of those kids that can do it in less than 5 minutes.

Funny you should ask- that's the new fad at my high school. During class, teachers don't take away cell phones or ipods, but rubix cubes. One teacher is to have boasted with saying he has thirty-nine.

    Anyway, on to the question.
Yes, but only twice. And it was with one of those regular ones.
