Running a physician's practice involves a number of clerical tasks like scheduling, record-keeping and billing. Developed by the McKesson Corporation, Medisoft is a software program meant to assist with the daily clerical tasks in medical practices.
Function
Medisoft allows office managers, receptionists and others who perform clerical tasks to enter, organize, edit, move and delete patient appointments. The program also submits claims to insurance companies and prints paper bills for patients with unpaid balances.
Types
As of December 2009, the latest version of Medisoft released was Medisoft V15. A second product, Medisoft Clinical, is also available and features everything found in Medisoft V15 with the added feature of keeping patient medical records in electronic form.
Availability
Medisoft is available from a number of dealers nationwide as well as from some online retailers. When purchasing Medisoft, buyers must decide on how many computers the software will need to be installed, and then purchase a corresponding number of licenses.
Systems
Version 15 of Medisoft only works on Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP or Windows Vista, according to the makers of the software.
Cost
As of December 2009, the basic version of Medisoft with two licenses cost approximately $294.00, while the cost for 25 licenses was around $3,014.
