  • Which Bible, and by whose interpretation? If you wish to argue this point or pick it apart, re-read the question carefully, think of the above answer like it's a Zen Koan, and THEN feel free to comment. Thoughtfully.
  • wishful thinking
  • good point jervinator. the Bible contradicts itself. people shouldnt disagree with something because the BIBLE tells you to do so. have an OPEN MIND. THINK FOR YOURSELF people, please. what if the Bible said that African Americans were an inferior race? what would happen then?
  • Because they don't believe that the word of the Bible is correct, or interpret it in a different way.
  • Technically the Bible does not say it's wrong. It's the English moralist interpretation of the Sodomite tale that has lead to that view. The original text does not imply that the men of Sodom wanted to have anal intercourse with their visitors, nor that this was the norm in Sodom. If God is a loving God as we are told, then he should accept people in all their diversities. Being Gay, Bi or Les does not hurt anyone else, has no adverse effects on anyone else, and if you argue that it's wrong because they're being Onanists or because they are giving up their reproductive obligations, then that is a hypocritical view, given that the original Christian Church, the Catholic Church is foundated on the idea that men and women become celibate to serve the Lord - as Priests, Brothers and Nuns.
  • i agree with redrum.
  • The Bible's condemnation of homosexuality is as clear and plain as the Bible's condemnation of murder, adultery, premarital sex, kidnapping, lying and idolatry. The homosexual community has two ways of promoting their personal choices of being homosexual through the religious forum. First, some will claim the Bible actually promotes and condones homosexuality. Second, others try to get the Bible banned from public use by categorizing it as hate literature. For any to use the Bible to condone rather than condemn homosexual activity in the theological arena just proves such a one has absolutely no idea what the Bible actually teaches. For anyone to suggest the Bible says homosexual activity is acceptable to God, is nothing short of willful blindness. Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female" Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death."
  • They have a right to not believe in a God that doesn't approve of what they want to do. That's the beautiful thing about having choices. There's plenty of people attracted to the same sex and feel awful and rotten about it because of what their parents told them or what a book of a god tells them (which they don't HAVE to believe in). I just wish some people, for the good of their own, would think for themselves. Just be happy. -------------------------- EDIT: My replies to the comments as of April 5, 2007 2:58 PM EST _callMEdna: you kick ass _Riff-Raff: What situation are we in? I'm sure you're going to say something like a life of sin, but I think some sins are worth having freedom. _Stableboy: thumbs up. hell yes. _ walzeff: first of all, mistakes are what make us human and help us learn what not to do. i don't know about you, but i believe in treating people right the first time around. now there's nothing i can say to change your beliefs, just like you won't get some to believe in what you believe in... that's what makes being human so freakin' amazing, is that we can have our own thoughts, ideas, mistakes, and lessons. the morals in the goddamned bible are there to keep people afraid of doing things that maybe aren't that bad. what do YOU care if two guys decide to live together? they're not in your home. Junkies and straight people spread disease just as much as gays (and actually our American government had help in not trying to stop the disease spreading, but believing there shouldn't be a gov't is a different topic). I don't say God is wrong for not accepting homosexuals... I blame YOU for not accepting free thinking, and accepting people for who they WANT TO BE, because who the hell are you to tell ANYONE else what to think?! JESUS CHRIST! Not even I can tell you what to think, which makes this useless because you're not going to wake up just because of a goddamned response on Answerbag. Amen.
  • Its so sad that they do, God wrote the Bible for all mankind so we may learn to live the way God ment us to live. But we have to be the one's wise enough to do so and when we don't thats your choice, he give us the ability to make our choices, and when you don't do as he tells you, he'll be the one to judge, I would rather have one tell me thats wrong, then wait for the day of judgement, when its to late. I think they believe God loves everyone no matter what or how thay live. Jesus died on the cross for all mankind, that shows us he does love us, so much he died on the cross for all are SIN. Sin(one of many) which is man having lust towards their own gender, same goes for woman. He call it an aomination, thats bad, so bad that he died. So I would think they would be smart enough to say, hey maybe this is wrong, but they are blind, they can't see the whole picture, all they see is what they want to see.
