  • Yes, it is the parent's responsibility to make sure that their child does not "over-do" it.
  • Yea, why not? everybody does it
  • Any person at any age should be allowed to watch Television. Restrictions though should be made to children of sexually and extreme violent and gore content. TV is not all trash, people can earn lots of very useful information by watching educational channels, etc.. So, yes they should be able to watch TV, but with parental restrictions to some content.
  • Yes but it should be monitored, what they are watching as well as how much they are watching. Kids learn alot from tv as well as adults. I don't think its to bad for them unless they are sitting right up on it or watch it all day long. Not much different from us being on the computer...
  • TV is a beneficial thing in the correct dose. Children can learn a wide range of facts and skills from watching TV, and can develop a sense of humour and compassion. I don't think TV broadcasters would take a liking to an under 13 TV ban. Many of their programmes are aimed at that particular age group, and as a result they would lose a hell of a lot of money
  • yes. televisions are not evil. parents should watch with their kids, monitor what they watch and talk with them about what they see and hear.
  • Yes! You just have to limit the time.
  • Yes, Supervised Television Is Fine.
  • Well, I don't see why not- I watched TV at those ages. I mean.. it can be educational, even if it's not an educational channel... even if it's just cartoons. But just watch what they watch to make sure it appropriate, and don't forget to show them other things besides TV. Too much TV can be harmful, and some kids can get addicted and refuse to enjoy any other activities. There's much more out there to do and see, don't let them become a couch potato.
  • Yes. The key is moderation.
  • Well I'll be the first to say No! I didn't live in a house with TV until I was 13 and was without cable until I was 18 and I think it was an incredible benefit to me and my family. I loved books more than most kids, was super creative and spent a lot of time outside. People constantly choose to ignore warnings about children and TV usage and I think it's awful. I think between birth and age 5 a child shouldn't even see a television set, ever.
  • Yes why shouldn't they? The reason why kids grow up a certain way is because of how the parents raised them and their peers and their environment. Good parents who participate in their kids life and get involved raise good kids.
  • Yes. They should not be watching Tales form the Darkside or Nip/Tuck, but they certainly can watch Blue's Clues and numerous other programs aimed for preschool children. TV is just a way to present information- it is not inherently inferior to any other method of presenting information. Of course, interactive methods are better than passive ones, but that does not mean passive learning is bad. I'm guessing that the 13 means 13 years, not 13 months! How old can a baby sit up and focus on something?
  • Yes. It is good for their stimulation and can prove to be educational in some way. Just limit their time and restrict certain things that you think they shouldnt see.
  • A certain amount yes. We should read to and with our children as much as possible during the years instead of just parking them infront of the tv. But some tv can be educational, and that is ok.
