1. She could have an intact hymen and still not be a virgin, so the embarrassing and offensive exercise doesn't prove anything. 2. I think she has a horrible relationship with her parents (not necessarily the girl's fault), who have no business making such demands. I hope the girl will contact the city or state social services office where she lives and ask them how to handle this. I'm assuming the girl is at least 10-13 years old.

I'm with anguilla and stupid girl. She could also have a broken hymen (gymnastics etc...) and be a virgin. Why? can you actually see an intact hymen?? I never knew that. Really? What about tampons? :/

I am in agreement with the answers that proceed mine. Those parents are disgusting and possibly mentally ill. Their conduct borders on the criminal. The young lady should immediately contact a trusted adult outside the family or Child Protective Services to seek assistance.

I think its disgusting! I mean, come on...thats seriously crossing the line, not to mention the affects its going to have on the girl. It almost seems like abuse. There's other more appropriate ways to handle this type of situation! Poor girl!!!!

A hymen can break without sexual intercourse. Notwithstanding this. To be required to display ones genitalia in this way is humiliating and offensive in the extreme. It constitutes abuse. I was a social worker and would have considered it my duty to take this further If I had been informed of any parent doing this,

This is child abuse at the least, probably sexual abuse. Setting aside the having to prove it for a second, what they heck is the father doing there???? . If this is you, talk to a counselor at school, a youth help hotline, Child Protective Services or the police. If it is a friend, do the same! . I would guess that the parents are from a country with very traditional (according to our udnerstanding, outdated) values vis a vis the importance of a girl maintaining her virginity and family honor being tied to that. While it may put their motivation in a different light, if they are now living in a western democracy (assumption), they will have to obey the laws of that contry! .
