  • Some are, and some aren't.
  • Good ole' Mr. Sanchez (lol!!!). I think so, but with any race discrimination it just depends on where you live. For example, I live 2 hours away from the Mexican border. In my town, people who are NOT mexican are the minority. I'm half Mexican from my mother's side. My father is white and lives in North Texas. When I go to visit him I do personally sense some discrimination against myself, even though I dont think I even look Mexican but I guess to them I do lol. Anyway, the majority of people in his town are caucasion and the few mexican and black families that live there are primarily in separate parts of town (ie the "Mexican" part of town, the "Black" part of town, etc.) It's so shocking to me that some places are still so segregated but unfortunatly it's very real!
  • All races have some who will be prejudiced against them. Those who respect Mr Sanchez, respect him because they know him. they see the person not the race. Racism is blind to the person.
  • Yes,im afraid soo.
  • Of course hispanics are also discriminated by certain people just like the rest of the other reaces are discriminated as well. I dont think we can name a race that has never been discriminated.I totally agree with the answer Moley gave,Mr.Sanchez might be respected because they see the person not the race.It can also be that the people in your neighboorhood really know and practice the definition of respect and they have good morals. Im guessing Mr.Sanchez respect his neighboors as well so he can earn that respect back.
  • I think most Americans have been taught to judge each Human as an individual . Unfortunately some will never comprehend that is the right way . People called Lou Dobbs a racist an yet he said something similar. The above words are what I was taught growing up. I do however dislike illegal aliens from any place. Everyone must obey the law . I do not wish to live in anarchy. No one is above the law . No matter who they are .
  • Some people are racist to anyone who is not like them....But some see the actions of the PERSON, instead of just his race. They are seeing things more clearly.
  • Some are, some are not as Blackberry said. As for the "some are," all you have to do is look around at the hate shown on this website. In almost every question discussing Mexicans/Hispanics, there is hate. There is LESS hate shown in this category. Personally, I think people watch their ps and qs other than blatant trolling here. They know that letting hate fly here is going to bring the attention of old timers like myself and others. If you want to see the lion's share of the hate, go into political and immigration categories. On Answerbag, from my personal observation, the group most disliked is Muslims. Mexicans/Hispanics follow shortly behind. Yes, there is a lot of racism going on here, from hating whites to blacks to every other group, but those are the big two. In real life, if you live around a larger Mexican/Hispanic community (and I am not even talking about California... something smaller), you are going to see it. A couple of them do not pose a threat but, if you live near a larger Mexican/Hispanic community, the "oh my God they are taking over the country!" alarm goes off. Another thing is "oh my God they are all illegals" when most of them are not. Of course, there are other issues to go along with that but that would take a lot of explaining and a bloody long answer. In real life, however, all ethnicities are discriminated against and region depends on who gets it the worst. I was just explaining what I have seen with Mexicans/Hispanics. Ask Mr. Sanchez about his life experiences. Because you do not see it does not mean he has not experienced it.
  • I can tell you for a fact that they are. Mr. Sanchez has the benefit of people having the chance to get to know him, to see what kind of fellow he really is. However, this country, and particularly the US government, has taken to legally racially profiling people with a law called the 287G. Yep, you heard me. All those years the black community, et. al., spent protesting racial profiling has been for nothing. It's legal now! The only difference is that now, they have to find a reason to arrest you if you do not, or cannot, show proof of who you are......all in the name of "national security". Since when did the Hispanics fly planes into buildings? +5
  • Yes, even though the Mexican's were here in California W A Y before anyone else, the white American makes irt seen as if they run everything...I don't like to think that way, but it is true.BUT...In the deep South, the recisim between blacks, is incredible, and much worse than I ever knew!!!
  • I treat them like any other race +5
