  • "Yep" means "yes." I always thought "yep" to be a quick precise answer, often used in discussions someone doesn't wish to have. Used often by those upbeat. "Yup" is a rural, almost redneck version of "yes," although it is often drawn out for emphasis. Used often by those with little to say.
  • I think they are both a little too negligent.. and are variations of the same sort of sense of "I'm being despondent and not as genuine as I could be".... I like "yes" a whole lot even though it is most formal. "Yeah", "yah", and "yea" are OK by me. But when you are affirming or denying, I feel like the words get personalities. Never cared for "Nope", either. I sound insane.
  • I think there is no difference between them.
  • technically, if you say them out loud, they sound the same. other than that, one has an E and the other has a U.
  • Yep means "I wish there was a better way to say 'yes' in the fastest possible way, but I can't so I will say yep." And Yup means "I'm slow." Now put that in your burrito and chew it.
