1972, at age 13, I got a flat $125.00 per month to be the assistant grounds keeper & janitor for our local church. I cut grass & shoveled snow outside, pushed broom, mop, and floor polisher inside, and took garbage out. It was enough to pay for my advanced martial arts. With a first degree black belt at age 13, my parents would not pay for more lessons, if I wanted to continue, I had to earn my own money and pay for the lessons myself.
