  • Only if paternity is in question.
  • What, and remove the chance for women to get up the duff and pass the child off as someone else's? Not a chance in Hell would women be in favour of removing a tool to manipulate men with, no way.
  • for what purpose because that's costly?
  • Yes...then maybe they will stay off the Jerry Springer show! PS...everyone need to know who thier parents are. Keeping a relationship and family ties is another issue all together.
  • No. It's a waste of time and money and no national health care system can afford that. What would be the point too? If a kid at some later stage wants to get a paterniuty test, it's up to them. But it shouldn't be imposed on anyone.
  • Maybe I'm obtuse this morning but what would mandatory paternity testing have to do with a national health care system? It's not like answering the "who's yer daddy" question would be needed to qualify the baby for care, since everyone is already qualified. In a situation where paternity is an issue (like child support), of course there should be testing at either parties request. But mandatory testing of all babies seems like a big waste of money.
  • Honestly, when I asked the question, I was thinking that as long as the government was going to be handling the whole process, that they should fill out their own paperwork, i.e. the birth certificate. . I don't think the cost would be that much, and it will reduce the costs to society over all. . In the 90's the Human Genome Project was compared to the Manhattan Project in size and cost. Now one can get their own genome mapped for $70,000. It's becoming a fad for the upper crust. .
