  • I don’t know if Monday and Tuesday has an special significance for a Jehovah’s Witness, but I would not worry too much about this religious discrimination claim (assuming you don’t treat this employee differently for being a Jehovah’s Witness). You have a duty to reasonably accommodate a persons religion, but that is all. If you have a reason why you need this employee to work on Monday or Tuesday, then you are most likely not illegally discriminating.
  • I've never heard of any such thing. He's using the system to try and get over. He's banking on the fact that none of you are JW's so how would you call his bluff. If you happen to see any JW's in the neighborhood ask them.
  • Actually, JW's only have one day of the year that has any significance, as far as holiday's / needed day's off from work may go. It is the "Memorial of Christ's Death," which occurs at roughly the same time as Christian Easter and the Jewish Passover. So to answer your question, no - someone is not only being dishonest about their intentions, but also probably about their religion.
