  • Guilty people can convince themselves of their innocence, of their inability to be caught, or can have feelings besides guilt, and can get caught up in those feelings and avoid their guilt. And completely innocent people can get caught up in being defensive, give up on trying to convince you of the truth, not because they have something to be defensive, but because something happened to them, or someone they loved and they are being accused and they're frustrated.
