I think the Labour party will remain in power, especially if the economy improves. Though I think it's iffy that Gordon Brown will remain the PM.

Hopefully, it will be whichever candidate gets the most votes.

- That depends on which candidate you're talking about. In GB, you vote for your representative in the House of Commons (like your House of Representatives). Members of the House of Lords (like your Senate) are inherited and/or appointed by the Queen. The Prime Minister (like your President, currently Gordon Brown) is not elected by the public, but rather is appointed by the Queen. But that is just a formality. In practice, the PM is whoever is the leader of whichever party has the majority in Parliament, which at present is the Labour party (somewhat equivalent to your Democratic party).

- Thanks for the education, H G. No disrespect at all, but I prefer the American system, because it at least presents the *illusion* that the electorate has some "control" over which person is installed into any political office.
