  • If you have kept it in a good container that was clean and free of bugs then it should last for years.
  • Probably not a good idea.
  • depends. If the packets are sealed well they can last a long time, however if there is a break in the seal or thin walled packs it can lead to attraction of critters yes. However it must be noted, there are tons of instances where there are already infested stores of oatmeal and flour and such, and can already be living before you even get the box. I HATE flour bugs, those are the worst. http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/yf/home/e300w.htm is a good link for a little bit of info. as for tasting bad, that depends on the flavor(if any) of the oatmeal. plain oats can last a tremendously long time, however the more expensive/also cheaper oatmeal can be made with chemicals(hope not) or flavorings that do go "bad" in a sense that the shelf life will "ferment" if you will and not be so yummy. most flavored individual packs of oatmeal can last a while though, from 6 months and up. (I'd advise much less if you are in a bug/weather horrid area, which we are :X)
  • Wouldn't the "bugs" add to the overall protein content?
  • Does the packet have a phone number on it? Try to find it and call them. Get the name of the person you're talking to and call them back to complain if they say it's okay and you get sick. The larger canister has a number; 1-800-for-oats.
