None of my cars have been worth anything. I paid for two and made payments on one but it was only like $1000 or something and made it in less than 5 payments.

I don't have a license! What would be the point of buying a car if I can't drive it? Perhaps one day, if it's worth it and I have the money.
-
I have only bought one car new, all my others have been used. I think the best deals were the used cars that still had a lot of their manufactures warranty left on them.
-
Not unless you plan on holding onto it (imho). ;-)
-
I always buy new vehicles, but I keep them for 6 to 12 years.

+5 yes this did not happen till 5.26.08 my birthday and memorial day.

Nope. Far too expensive and they devalue far too quickly. Especially with the number of miles I put on a car. I tend to by cars about 10 years old, or so. You can easily find very NICE cars, low milage, and well taken care of for very reasonable prices. I can find a decent car for about $3,500, give or take, for that amount. And because it isn't new, I same a BUNCH on insurance as well. I don't see the sense in buying a new car for myself when I'm putting 40,000 miles a year on a vehicle. By the time I pay it off, it'll have over 200,000 miles on it. And I will have wasted tens of thousands of dollars on it.

The first car I ever had was brand new. I ended up getting into an accident with the car. I totaled it. I got hurt and it was a bad experience. It turned out to be for the best, though. I used the insurance money to help pay for college. A lot of good sometimes comes out of a lot of bad. I would never suggest a young person buy a new car. Most of them depreciate so badly, that you can never can get your money out of them. Also, it is a bad situation to have a hard time making payments. I did, anyway. +5

I had to have a new car. I was sick of the old clunkers or used ones. I did buy one that was last year's model but it was unused.
-
Yes. I had a new 1987 Ford Escort for 13 years.....and then my 2003 Hyundai Accent. So far over 6 years of perfect performance.
-
I have bought 10 new ones and several used very little ones and a number of used ones (some old clunkers, LOL). The best way to go is to buy very little used ones (20,000 miles or less) because the value depreciates very fast during the 1 and 2nd years.

Yes I have, and in my mind it was worth it. I paid off my new car in 3 years, and kept it for 15. +5

Yes, I have bought three new vehicles. I think they were worth it because I own them for so long. The first one for 8 years. The ones we have now are 11 and 8 years old. Both still run great.
-
Yes No You drive it off the lot and you have immediately lost thousands of dollars in value because it is no longer a "new" car it is a "used" or to be PC "pre-owned" car. I think a good "used" car is a much smarter purchase. Perhaps if I were infinitely wealthy and money were of little consequence I would feel otherwise! :)

Yes I have. Twice I've bought a brand new Ford Ranger. In both instances, the truck cost less than the used Town and Country I have now. Both were extremely dependable and useful vehicles and being bought new, I knew how they'd been broken in and maintained right from the start. I also knew they hadn't been driven hard, with jack rabbit starts and tromping on the brakes constantly. I drove the first one 110,000 miles before I put the first set of brake pads on it and 125,000 before I did any major maintenance. I drive very gently in a way that spares the vehicle, and going that long without spending money on the truck is definitely worth it.

IF YOU FIND A GOOD DESIGNED CAR OR TRUCK WITH ALL THE COMFORTS AND YOU REALLY LIKE IT. THEN ITS OK TO MAKE PAYMENTS ON IT, BUT WHEN ITS PAID FOR AND YOU'VE BEEN TAKING GOOD CARE OF IT. YOU'LL PROBLEY NEVER WANT ANOTHER ONE AGAIN. I HAVE A 2002 DODGE DAKOTA SPORT, ALL THE AVIONICS INSIDE I NEED AND ITS A 4 DOOR SHORTBED WITH A COVER OVER THE BED. REAL ROOMY ON THE INSIDE, WHITE IN COLOR SO THE HOT SUN REFLECTS OFF THE HEAT IN THE SUMMER. I'VE BEEN OFFERED 18% OVER BLUEBOOK VALUE, BUT I LIKE IT AND ITS NOT FOR SALE. I FIGURE WHEN HYBRIDS COME OUR MORE THAT GAS ENGINES, I'LL JUST HAVE A HYBRID PUT IN THIS BEAUTIFUL TRUCK.
