It all has to do with the cylinders, the size of the motor. etc. a 4 cylinder car, with 2.5 L motor is going to get WAY better gas mileage than a V-8 Hemi, the Power you get you trade for gas mileage.

Out of curiosity, what kind of upgrades. Some upgrades will burn more gas than others. Turbocharged cars can get good gas mileage. If you lightly accelerate then the turbo won't kick in and you won't burn as much fuel. The moment to jam the pedal down to is when you sink into the seat and burn some gas. Turbo cars are fun and it's worth the hit in gas mileage to drive them how their meant to be driven.
