  • On earth, yes. (Unless you're the Virgin Mary). I'm actually not sure how the Bible explains this. It probably doesn't. Since he's God, he doesn't need a wife (or if she, a husband). He can do the housework himself.
  • yes. and since God kicked his son out of the house to go live on the streets with all the earthlings, she probably divorced him. then he got hit with a huge child support bill, and owed her half of all his stuff. so he gave her all the first born in egypt. hows that for outside the bag. haha. no i doubt God had a wife. however, he has companionship in the thousands of men and women and children who love him back for the sacrifices he's made for them. theres enough love in this world for him. we're his companion.
  • I think that in modern day terms (with a touch of cynicism thrown in), Jesus was the surrogate child to god - born of Mary and with Joseph included as Mary's husband but without Joseph as the birth father.
  • God knows? ;-)
  • If classical painting is any aid in this regard we are given to believe God came to Mary as a golden ray of light that, err...penetrated her body and got her with baby. Sometimes this is shown as piercing through a window without (of course) breaking it, thus a nice visual metaphor for a virgin birth. Personally I don't buy it but it sounds interesting.
  • god is not a man because god is not a person
  • I think you are taking the bible far too literally. 1. god is not a person, he/she/it is a being. 2. I believe that the bible is a teaching tool not a true story. and if you look at it that way i think that Jesus is only the son of god in that He is what god wants for all of us and wants all of us to be/emulate.
  • no. Jesus is practically God.. God acts through Jesus. Plus Since Jesus wasnt born (before he was born through Mary.) he wouldnt have a mother.
  • Why this question is in Outside the Bag, I do not know. In Christianity, God does not have a wife. Jesus, who is equal to God in the Trinity, and therefore always existed. He was sent to earth as a human, to pay for the sins of humanity. As a human, he needed to be born into a human family, so Mary was chosen to be His earthly mother. But mary is human being, always was, and always will be. The position of Son was not given to Jesus becuase he was born of Mary. It is a position in the Trinity He always held. This is stated by the Apostle Paul, writing under God's inspiration, in the New Testament.
  • Jesus had an eternal relationship with God the Father because He is God the Son. God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost: three Persons in One Godhead. Many call this the Holy Trinity. Before Jesus came to earth, He was called the Word.(see John Ch.1) The Word came to earth as a sinless man, Jesus Christ, about 2,000 years ago. John 1:1 teaches us that the Word was with God, and the Word was God. So, you see, they (the Father and the Word.) are both a distinct Person, but the same Divinity. Jesus was born of a virgin. He was conceived by the Holy Ghost inside of Mary. So, no, God did not have a wife. The Father/Son relationship between God the Father and Christ the Son is a spiritual relationship, not genetic or physical. I hope that this is helpful. -In the Master's service. Thank you and God bless you!
  • Give me a break. You are from a society in which the predominant religion is Christianity, so you must know the beliefs behind this - virgin birth!
  • I believe that "The Church", in other words, his "True Believers", is (or will be?) his bride. See Ephesians 5:22-33 for more information. I recommend the King James Version. If you're too lazy to look it up, but want to read it, here it is: "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so *let* the wives *be* to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife *see* that she reverence *her* husband." - Ephesians 5:22-33 (KJV)
  • Jesus is called the Son of God because of the relationship that exists between Himself and God the Father. This sonship is similar to the relationship between a human father and son, but is not identical. It does not imply, for instance, that God the Father has passed on a divine Y chromosome to the Son. It does not imply that God the Father took the Son to a Mets game. It also does not imply that the Son existence relies on some kind of celestial copulation requiring a female counterpart.
  • no. God made jesus as himself in the flesh. if he had a wife, a human wife, that would pass sin to his sona nd jesus was perfect.
